Age: 35
Other Characters: N/A

Name: Angel
Canon: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel
Canon Point: After After the Fall, a.k.a. the comic that covers "Season 6" of Angel
Age: ~278 (actual), 26 (apparent)

Backstory: His massive backstory is thoroughly covered on his Wiki page; his canon point covers everything up to and including "Fall of Los Angeles".
Personality:
+Angel typically comes off reserved and stoic, often broody to the point that people mock him for it. This reflects his inner feelings of guilt over his previous actions, usually hiding his deepest emotions behind terse dialogue. When he opens up, his nurturing and playful sides come out.
+He has an obsession with destiny that takes him in any direction he thinks will help people achieve their own goals. He himself is tied to the Shanshu Prophecy, which states that he'll be able to live a happy human life after several apocalypses and challenges during his journey for atonement; while it's not his primary motivator, it serves as an objective to encourage his good deeds. He perceives humanity as always trying to make the right choice, regardless of the costs, so he often applies this logic to himself.
+As an ensouled vampire, he constantly lives with the reality that he committed atrocities during his soulless years under the name Angelus. Angel fears being used as an instrument of evil by others and subjecting the world to that part of himself again. His soul has been released twice since it was originally returned to his vampire form; despite being restored both times, he still fears becoming Angelus for what he can do even before the ritual's performed once again.
+Since his goal is to protect innocents, he would swiftly kill anything that murders or threatens them. By the same token, if the fight for good against evil starts to feel fruitless, it can harden him to the point of making drastic decisions such as pushing loved ones away in the pursuit of doing what he believes is necessary to defeat the darkness. If he obsesses over this goal, he can potentially disregard his moral code if he believes "the ends justify the means".
+Above all, what he admires about humans is their constant strive for good in their short, mortal lives, even when the odds are against them. While he follows the mantra "helping the helpless" less than when he first started his company Angel Investigations, he has altered his stance to the idea that "if nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do."
+Considering how many apocalypses, hell dimensions, and other such traumas he has already experienced in his long life, he is less surprised by many changes than he used to be. That being said, he is less experienced with himself changing physically. Most recently, he was forced to be human in a hell dimension, and he needed magic to maintain his vampire abilities in order to handle combat and keep morale among those he helped. When a dimension changed his appearance as a vampire, he was terrified of what he'd become and identified himself as a monster on the outside. In other words, what happens to him here in Route will be an exciting mixed bag.
+The important thing to note is that there are two sides of Angel: The soulless Angelus who first appeared when he became a vampire, and the redeemed Angel after his soul was restored. His soul is a curse from the Kalderash people, so that he feels guilt for all of the horrors he committed as Angelus, while never being allowed a moment of true happiness or else he will lose his soul again. Even if Angelus never comes out, he's always a voice in the back of Angel's mind that he can control so long as he has his soul; thus, this curse plagues him throughout his existence.

Powers/Abilities: Since he's a veteran vampire, Angel has developed way too many bloody abilities, so I will attempt to summarize everything as best I can.
  • Vampire Strengths: All vampires in the Buffyverse are immortal and invulnerable to conventional causes of death, rapidly healing and regenerating from injury. They also possess superhuman strength and heightened senses; in Angel's older case, he's also strong enough to lift a security gate, fast enough to seem like he's teleporting, and able to endure falls and explosions with ease plus a high pain tolerance. He also has a psychic connection with vampires he has sired. Out of these abilities, Angel will only arrive with super strength and endurance.

  • Vampire Weaknesses: Vampires can be killed by decapitation or a stake to the heart, and harmed by sunlight and holy items; Angel can withstand the latter for slightly longer than most due to his advanced age. Notably, they also can't enter a living human's home without invitation. All of these weaknesses will be gone upon arrival.

  • Advanced Combat: Angel can easily fight unarmed with several martial skills under his belt, defeating opponents stronger than him even as a human. He has also mastered the use of many weapons with a preference for broadswords and axes. Angel will retain this ability.

  • Sorcery: With mass knowledge of demonology and general occult history, Angel is able to perform spells, exorcisms, and glamours. Since spellcasting is not his expertise, he will only have the knowledge when he arrives.

  • Psychological Manipulation: As the soulless Angelus, he mastered the exploitation of others' emotions with the potential to drive someone to insanity. He also had expertise in torture. Since he is only likely to lose his soul in an event-based scenario, Angel is not liable to use this ability.

  • Leadership and Tactical Skills: Angel regularly leads groups, possessing excellent tactical, strategizing, and intimidation skills. As these are mundane abilities, he will retain them upon arrival.

  • Art Skills: In addition to good penmanship, he can draw portraits from memory. Since this is mundane, he will retain it, even if his monster form messes with his motor skills.

  • Multilingualism: Angel can speak several human languages and has attempted to understand at least two demon ones. Since the language barrier doesn't exist in this setting, this ability will not be necessary.

Inventory: In addition to his signature outfit with duster, Angel has on hand an old flip phone, a stake, and some business cards for Angel Investigations.
Game Plans: Angel's life is never easy, nor simple, so it's nice to toss him into crazy situations that force him to re-adapt again. Additionally, as I suggested earlier, he actually takes less well to transformations of himself, so I would love to see him adjust to a non-vampire, potentially non-human form for once. Finally, by contrast, since he's an avid lover of cars, he would enjoy the convoy arrangement more than he may vocally admit.
Monster Choice:
1: Volare (Gargoyle): The best thing about having Angel be a Gargoyle is that it would play into his stoic, brooding demeanor and his protective nature. It would also be distinct from his vampire form enough for him to struggle, while its bat-like features mock him by alluding to the old myth that all vampires turn into bats. (In his universe, only a very rare few can.)
2: Celestial (Angel): Not only does this have an obvious symbolic element, but also Angel would feel tremendously conflicted about being a celestial since he's constantly questioning whether or not he deserves happiness and/or redemption at all. The primary reason it's my second choice is that Faith would hate him for it he wouldn't struggle with his appearance since it's inherently a "pretty" monster.
3: Drakonis (Gryphon): While this is my last choice, the fun part is that I would give Angel the element of fire, since it'd be ironic for him to use something that he's usually vulnerable to. The instincts would also complement his personality, with the pride mentality playing into his desire to have a team that feels like family, and the obsession for riddles and puzzles playing into the fact he's a literal detective back home.
Vehicle Choice:
A black-with-medium-red-stripes 1967 Plymouth GTX coupe, reminiscent of the black one he used to have in L.A. Quality is Fast, of course.

Sample: With Akechi.
